Tranexamic Acid (Tranexaheal 500) 500 mg tablet is an antifibrinolytic hemostatic that helps to prevent and reduce bleeding. It is used to control bleeding after specific surgical procedures and other situations, such as in heavy or prolonged menstrual bleeding, nosebleeds, or as decided by your doctor.

How To Take Tranexamic Acid (Tranexaheal 500) 500 mg
This medicine may be taken with or without food. Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water. Do not divide, chew, or crush the tablet.
Try to take it at the same time each day.
Take Tranexamic acid precisely as directed by your doctor or according to the instructions on the label. Do not take more or less than instructed by your doctor.
Dosage of Tranexamic Acid (Tranexaheal 500) 500 mg
Adult: Short-term hemorrhage; Localised hemorrhage: 1-1.5 g twice a day or three times a day.
Menorrhagia: 1 g three times a day during menstruation as necessary for up to 5 days. Maximum dose of 4 g/day.
Hereditary angioedema: 1-1.5 g twice a day or three times a day intermittently or continuously.
Patients with hemophilia undergoing dental extraction: 1.5 g 8 hourly.
Missed Dose
If you miss a dose, skip the missed dose and return to your usual dosing schedule. If you often forget to take your medicine, let your doctor and pharmacist know.
Do not double a dose under any circumstances.

Contraindications
People with the following medical conditions should not take Tranexamic Acid:
- Hypersensitivity
- Active thromboembolic disease (e.g., pulmonary embolism, DVT)
- History of venous or arterial thrombosis (including retinal vein or artery occlusion)
- Disseminated intravascular coagulation
- Fibrinolytic conditions after consumption coagulopathy
- History of convulsions
- Concomitant use with hormonal contraceptives
- Severe renal impairment
Side Effects
Tranexamic Acid may have the following side effects:
- Visual and ocular disturbance (e.g., impaired color vision)
- The retinal vein or artery occlusion
- Ligneous conjunctivitis
- Thromboembolic events
- Convulsions
- Anemia
- Diarrhea
- Nausea
- Vomiting
- Abdominal pain
- Fatigue
- Musculoskeletal pain
- Muscle cramps
- Headache
- Migraine
- Nasal and sinus symptoms
Potentially Fatal:
- Severe hypersensitivity reactions including anaphylaxis
Warnings
Do not use Tranexamic acid in people with the following conditions:
- Current or history of blood clotting problems
- History of seizure or fits
- Severe kidney disease
Inform your doctor and pharmacist if you are taking or using any of these medicines:
- Oral tretinoin (a medicine used for acne and blood cancer)
- Streptokinase
- Birth control pills
Inform your doctor and pharmacist if you are taking any other medicines, including herbal tonics such as traditional Chinese medicines, supplements, and non-prescription medicines.

Tranexamic acid blocks plasminogen and plasmin binding to fibrin, thereby inhibiting fibrinolysis, thus preventing dissolution of the hemostatic plug.

Tranexamic Acid is used to treat the following conditions:
- Short-term management of hemorrhage
- Menorrhagia
- Hereditary angioedema
- Patients with hemophilia undergoing dental extraction
Special Precautions and Connected Warnings
Take special precautions if you have the following conditions:
- Patients with hematuria from upper urinary tract
- History of thromboembolic diseases
- Women with subarachnoid hemorrhage or irregular menstrual cycle
- Mild to moderate renal impairment
- Pregnancy and lactation
- Avoid alcohol
Storage Conditions
- Store at 25°C.
- Store in a cool, dry place away from the reach of children.
- Do not use tranexamic acid that is expired or out of date.
