How To Take

This medicine may be taken with or without food. Try to make it at the same time each day.

Ezetimibe must be taken regularly for it to be effective. Continue taking Ezetimibe even if you feel well. Do not stop taking Ezetimibe unless instructed by your doctor.

Take Ezetimibe precisely as directed by your doctor or according to the instructions on the label. Do not take more or less than instructed by your doctor.

Dosage

Adult: Homozygous familial sitosterolemia; Hyperlipidemias: 10 mg once daily.

Missed Dose

If you miss a dose, skip the missed dose and return to your regular dosing schedule. If you often forget to take your medicine, let your doctor and pharmacist know.

Do not double a dose under any circumstances.

Overdose 

If you think you may have used Ezetimibe more than the usual dose, please seek medical help immediately.

• Fatigue
• Chest pain

• Rarely, raised liver enzymes or hepatitis, pancreatitis, thrombocytopenia, cholelithiasis, cholecystitis, increased creatine kinase, myopathy, and rhabdomyolysis.

Warnings

Inform your doctor and pharmacist if you are taking any other medicines, including herbal tonics such as traditional Chinese medicines, supplements, and non-prescription medicines.

How Does It Work?

Ezetimibe inhibits cholesterol absorption through the sterol transporter, Niemann-Pick C1-Like1 (NPC1L1), thereby resulting in decreased delivery of cholesterol to the liver reduction of hepatic cholesterol stores and increased clearance of cholesterol from the blood.

Ezetimibe is used  to treat the following conditions:

Special Precautions and Connected Warnings

Take special precautions if you have the following conditions:

• Exclude or treat secondary causes of dyslipidemia before initiating therapy
• Renal and hepatic impairment
• Pregnancy and lactation
• Avoid alcohol

Storage Conditions

• Store at 25°C. Protect from moisture.
• Store in a cool, dry place away from the reach of children.

Do not use Ezetimibe that is expired or out of date.
