How To Take

This medicine should be taken with food.

Dosage of Atorvastatin + Fenofibrate (Lipidator F) 10mg + 160 mg

Adults and the Elderly: Start with Atorvastatin 10 mg plus Fenofibrate 160 mg (or Atorvastatin 10 mg plus Fenofibrate 200 mg) once daily. The dosage can be titrated upwards depending on the patients’ response and tolerability to treatment to a maximum of Atorvastatin 40 mg plus Fenofibrate 160 mg (or Atorvastatin 40 mg plus Fenofibrate 200 mg). Or as prescribed by the physician.

Children and Adolescents: No data is available on the fixed-dose combination of Atorvastatin and Fenofibrate in patients under 18 years old. Therefore, the fixed-dose combination of Atorvastatin and Fenofibrate in this age group is not recommended.

Patients should be placed on an appropriate lipid-lowering diet before receiving the fixed dose combination of Atorvastatin and Fenofibrate and should continue this diet during treatment. The fixed dose combination of Atorvastatin and Fenofibrate should be given with meals, thereby optimizing the medication’s bioavailability.

Missed Dose

If you miss a dose, skip the missed dose and return to your normal dosing schedule. If you often forget to take your medicine, let your doctor and pharmacist know.

Do not double a dose under any circumstances.

Special Precautions and Connected Warnings

Take special precautions if you have the following conditions:

  • Excessive alcohol use
  • History of liver disease
  • Concomitant use with cyclosporine, erythromycin, niacin or azole antifungals such as ketoconazole, spironolactone, cimetidine
  • Acute, serious condition suggestive of myopathy or a risk factor predisposes the development of renal failure secondary to rhabdomyolysis (e.g., severe acute infection, hypotension, major surgery, trauma, severe metabolic, endocrine & electrolyte disorders, and uncontrolled seizures)
  • Elevated CPK levels
  • Cholelithiasis
  • Acute hypersensitivity reactions including severe skin rashes
  • Patients with severe hypertriglyceridemia
  • Hematological changes; perform periodic blood counts during the first year of treatment
  • Renal impairment
  • Not recommended for children and adolescents <18 yr.
