How To Take
This medicine is taken together with food or immediately after a meal. Try to make it at the same time each day.
Pirfenidone is available as a tablet or as a capsule. Swallow it whole with a glass of water.
Your doctor will decide the regimen of this medicine. Your doctor will advise you on the course of your treatment.
Pirfenidone must be taken regularly for it to be effective. Continue taking this medicine even when you feel better. Do not stop taking it unless instructed by the doctor.
Take Pirfenidone precisely as directed by your doctor or according to the instructions on the label. Do not take more or less than instructed by your doctor.
Dosage of Pirfenidone (Pirfeheal 200) 200 mg
Adult: Initial: 267 mg three times a day for seven days, then increased dose to 534 mg three times a day for seven days, then to usual maintenance dose 801 mg three times a day. Maximum dose of 2403 mg daily. Adjust dosage according to toxicity.
Missed Dose
If you miss a dose, skip the missed dose and return to your regular dosing schedule. If you often forget to take your medicine, let your doctor and pharmacist know.
Do not double a dose under any circumstances.
Overdose of Pirfenidone (Pirfeheal 200) 200 mg
If you think you may have used Pirfenidone more than the usual dose, please seek medical help immediately.
Contraindications
People with the following medical conditions should not take Pirfenidone:
- Severe hepatic and renal impairment
- ESRD requiring hemodialysis.

Warnings
Do not use Pirfenidone in people with the following conditions:

How Does Pirfenidone (Pirfeheal 200) 200 mg Work?
Pirfenidone is a synthetic pyridone antifibrotic agent. Its exact mechanism of action is still unknown. Still, in idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, it may reduce the amount of pro-inflammatory and fibroblast production and fibrosis-associated proteins and cytokines. It may also decrease the accumulation of extracellular matrix and lung fibrosis due to transforming growth factor-beta (TGF-β) and platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF).

Take special precautions if you have the following conditions:
- Smokers
- Mild to moderate hepatic and renal impairment
- Pregnancy and lactation
- Patient taking fluvoxamine and ciprofloxacin
- Avoid alcohol and grapefruit juice.
Storage Conditions

- Store in a cool, dry place away from the reach of children.
- Do not use Pirfenidone that is expired or out of date.
