How To Take Topiramate (Topaheal 100) 100 mg tablet
This medicine may be taken with or without food. Try to take it at the same time each day.
Swallow it whole. Do not chew or break the tablet.
Topiramate must be taken regularly for it to be effective. Continue taking Topiramate even when you feel better. Topiramate is not a cure, and you may need to take it long-term to keep your seizures under control. Do not stop taking Topiramate unless instructed otherwise as stopping it suddenly may worsen your condition.
Take Topiramate precisely as directed by your doctor or according to the instructions on the label. Do not take more or less than instructed by your doctor.
Dosage
Adult: Epilepsy: Initial: 25 mg at night for one week, increased in increments of 25 or 50 mg at 1-2 weeks interval. Doses >25 mg should be taken in 2 divided doses. Maximum dose of 500 mg/day.
Adjunct for seizures associated w/ the Lennox-gastaut syndrome; Adjunct in epilepsy: Initial: 25-50 mg at night for one week, increased in increments of 25 or 50 mg at 1-2 weeks interval. Doses >25 mg should be taken in 2 divided doses.
Prophylaxis of migraine: Initial: 25 mg at night for one week. It increased in increments of 25 mg at weekly intervals. The usual dose is 50-100 mg/day in 2 divided doses. Maximum dose of 200 mg/day.
Missed Dose
If you miss a dose, skip the missed dose and return to your usual dosing schedule. If you often forget to take your medicine, let your doctor and pharmacist know.
Do not double a dose under any circumstances.
Overdose
Signs of overdose may include the following:
- Drowsiness
- Speech disturbances
- Convulsions
- Blurred vision
- Diplopia
- Impaired mental status
- Lethargy
- Abnormal coordination
- Hypotension
- Abdominal pain
- Stupor
- Agitation
- Dizziness
- Depression

Topiramate is a sulfamate-substituted monosaccharide that has no known precise mechanism of action. It may be due to voltage-dependent sodium channels blockade, augmentation of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) at GABA A receptors activity, or inhibition of carbonic anhydrase and AMPA/kainate glutamate receptors.

Topiramate is used to treat the following conditions:
