Telmisartan (Telmaheal 40) 40 mg tablet is an angiotensin II receptor antagonist used to help keep your blood pressure to down by relaxing the blood vessels. It is also used to prevent and reduce the risk of heart attack or stroke in adults who have a high chance of getting them.

How To Take Telmisartan (Telmaheal 40) 40 mg
Take Telmisartan precisely as directed by your doctor or according to the instructions on the label. Do not take more or less than instructed by your doctor.
This medicine may be taken with or without food. Try to take it at the same time each day.
Telmisartan must be taken regularly for it to be effective. Continue taking this medicine even when you feel better. Do not stop taking it unless instructed otherwise by the doctor, as stopping it suddenly may worsen your condition.
Take Telmisartan precisely as directed by your doctor or according to the instructions on the label. Do not take more or less than instructed by your doctor.
Dosage of Telmisartan (Telmaheal 40) 40 mg
Adult: Hypertension: Initial: 40 mg once daily, may be adjusted to 20-80 mg once daily according to clinical response. Maximum dose of 80/day.
Cardiovascular risk reduction: 80 mg once daily.
Missed Dose
If you miss a dose, skip the missed dose and return to your regular dosing schedule. If you often forget to take your medicine, let your doctor and pharmacist know.
Do not double a dose under any circumstances.
Overdose
Signs of overdose may include the following:
- Hypotension
- Tachycardia
- Dizziness
- Bradycardia
- Elevated serum creatinine and acute renal failure
Seek medical help immediately.
Contraindications
People with the following medical conditions should not take Telmisartan:
- Biliary obstructive disorders
- Concomitant use with aliskiren in a patient with diabetes mellitus or renal impairment (GFR<60 mL/min/1.73 m2)
- Severe hepatic impairment
- Pregnancy

Warnings
Do not use Telmisartan in people with the following conditions:
- Blocked bile duct
- Severe liver disease
- Pregnancy

How Telmisartan (Telmaheal 40) 40 mg Work?
Telmisartan is a nonpeptide tetrazole derivative, an angiotensin II type 1 (AT1) receptor inhibitor which exerts its blood pressure-lowering effects by selectively blocking the binding of angiotensin II to AT1 receptors, thereby reducing angiotensin II-induced vasoconstriction aldosterone-secretion and sodium reabsorption.

Special Precautions and Connected Warnings
Take special precautions if you have the following conditions:
- Patient with aortic or mitral stenosis
- Obstructive hypertrophic cardiomyopathy
- Ischaemic cardiopathy
- Unstented unilateral or bilateral renal artery stenosis
- Ascites due to cirrhosis
- Refractory ascites
- Patients undergoing major surgery or during anaesthesia
- Black race
- Mild to moderate hepatic and renal impairment
- Lactation
- Avoid alcohol
- Cut down on your salt intake. This may help lower your blood pressure and improve your overall health. Speak to your doctor or dietitian about ways to cut down on your salt intake.

- Store at 25°C. Protect from light and moisture.
- Store in a cool, dry place away from the reach of children.
