How To Take

Take Cabergoline precisely as directed by your doctor or according to the instructions on the label. Do not take more or less than instructed by your doctor.

This medicine should be taken with food or immediately after a meal. Try to take it at the same time each day.

Cabergoline must be taken regularly for it to be effective. Continue taking this medicine even when you feel better.

Dosage of Cabergoline (Dostiheal 0.50) 0.5 mg

Adult: Inhibition of physiological lactation: 1 mg as a single dose on 1st day postpartum.

Lactation suppression: 250 mcg 12 hourly for two days.

Hyperprolactinaemia-associated disorders: Initial: 0.5 mg/week, gradually increase by 0.5 mg/week at monthly interval until optimal response.

Monotherapy or adjunct therapy in Parkinson’s’s disease: Initial: 1 mg/day, gradually increase by 0.5-1 mg at one or 2-week interval. The recommended dose is 2-3 mg/day.

Missed Dose

If you miss a dose, skip the missed dose and return to your regular dosing schedule. If you often forget to take your medicine, let your doctor and pharmacist know.

Do not double a dose under any circumstances.

Contraindications

How Does  Cabergoline (Dostiheal 0.50) 0.5 mg Work?

Cabergoline is a prolaction inhibitor, and a long-acting dopamine two receptor agonist which inhibits the secretion of prolactin through hypothalamic inhibitory control exerted through the release of dopamine. Stimulation of dopamine D2 receptors in the nigrostriatal pathway results in improvements in coordinated muscle activity in those with movement disorders.
