Clopidogrel (Clopiheal 75) 75 mg tablet is a prodrug of a platelet inhibitor used to reduce the risk of myocardial infarction and stroke. It reduces the risk of harmful blood clots forming in the body. Blood clots that form in a blood vessel inside the heart or brain can cause a heart attack or a stroke. It is also used with other medicines to prevent blood clots in people who have had stents inserted into their heart arteries.

How To Take
This medicine may be taken with or without food. Try to make it at the same time each day.
Clopidogrel must be taken regularly for it to be effective. Continue taking this medicine even when you feel better.
Take Clopidogrel precisely as directed by your doctor or according to the instructions on the label. Do not take more or less than instructed by your doctor.
Dosage
Adult: Prophylaxis of thromboembolic disorders: 75 mg once daily.
Acute coronary syndrome ST-elevation MI: In combination with aspirin: 75 mg once daily. The loading dose is 300 mg for patients 75 years old and below. Continue treatment for at least four weeks.
Unstable angina, non-ST-elevation MI: In combination with aspirin: Initial: 300 mg loading dose, followed by 75 mg once daily for up to 12 months.
Missed Dose
If you miss a dose, skip the missed dose and return to your regular dosing schedule. If you often forget to take your medicine, let your doctor and pharmacist know.
Do not double a dose under any circumstances.
Overdose
If you think you may have used Clopidogrel more than the usual dose, please seek medical help immediately.
Contraindications
People with the following medical conditions should not take Clopidogrel:
- Active bleeding (e.g., peptic ulcer or intracranial hemorrhage).
Side Effects
Clopidogrel may have the following side effects:
- Hematoma
- Epistaxis
- Diarrhea
- Dyspepsia
- Abdominal pain
- Bruising
- Bleeding at the puncture site
- Rarely, Stevens-Johnson syndrome, erythema multiforme, serum sickness, interstitial pneumonitis, lichen planus, and myalgia.
Potentially Fatal:
- Intracranial bleeding
- Gastrointestinal and retroperitoneal hemorrhage
- Blood dyscrasias
- Thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura
Warnings
Do not use Clopidogrel in people with the following conditions:
- Heart disease
- Stomach ulcers

How Does It Work?
Clopidogrel is a selective adenosine diphosphate (ADP) inhibitor that binds to its platelet P2Y12 receptor and subsequent activation of the glycoprotein GPIIb/IIIa complex, thereby reducing platelet aggregation.

Special Precautions and Connected Warnings
Take special precautions if you have the following conditions:
- A patient who is intermediate or poor CYP2C19 metabolizers
- Patient at risk of increased bleeding from trauma
- Surgery or other pathological conditions
- Renal and hepatic impairment
- Pregnancy and lactation
- Avoid alcohol
Storage Conditions
- Store at 25°C.
- Store in a cool, dry place away from the reach of children.
- Do not use Clopidogrel that is expired or out of date.
