Calcitriol (Rocaltop 0.25) 0.25 mg capsule is the most potent metabolite of vitamin D that plays an important role in the regulation of plasma calcium with parathyroid hormone (PTH) by enhancing the absorption of dietary calcium and phosphate from the gastrointestinal tract, thereby promoting renal tubular reabsorption of calcium in the kidneys, thus stimulating the release of calcium stores from the skeletal system.

How Does Calcitriol (Rocaltop 0.25) 0.25 mg Work?
Calcitriol is the active form of vitamin D3, cholecalciferol, that acts by stimulating the vitamin D receptor to promote calcium absorption and transport, thus increasing serum calcium levels. It also stimulates bone resorption and renal tubular reabsorption of calcium, thereby decreasing the parathyroid hormone (PTH) and maintaining calcium-phosphate homeostasis.

Calcitriol is used to treat the following conditions:
- Hypocalcemia
- Postmenopausal osteoporosis
- Plaque psoriasis
