Atomoxetine (Atomoxet 18) 18 mg tablet is selective norepinephrine (NE) reuptake inhibitor used for the treatment of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), hyperactive, impulsive, inattentive, poor behavioral condition in adults and children aged six years and older.

How To Take
This medicine may be taken with or without food. Try to take it at the same time each day.
Atomoxetine is available as a tablet.
If you are given the tablet, swallow it whole with a glass of water. Do not crush, chew, or open the tablet as this medicine is an eye irritant. If the contents accidentally come in contact with your eyes, rinse it immediately with water. Wash your hands and any contaminated surface as soon as possible. Alert your doctor if you start to have any problems with your eyes.
Atomoxetine must be taken regularly for it to be effective. Continue taking this medicine even when you feel better.
Take Atomoxetine precisely as directed by your doctor or according to the instructions on the label. Do not take more or less than instructed by your doctor.
Dosage of Atomoxetine (Atomoxet 18) 18 mg
Adult: Initial: 40 mg per day, maintained for a minimum of 7 days before an upward dose titration according to clinical response and tolerability. May gradually increase the dose to 80mg per day. Maximum of 100 mg/day. All dosages may be given as a single daily dose in the morning or as equally divided doses in the morning and later afternoon or early evening.
Missed Dose
If you miss a dose, skip the missed dose and return to your regular dosing schedule. If you often forget to take your medicine, let your doctor and pharmacist know.
Do not double a dose under any circumstances.
Overdose of Atomoxetine (Atomoxet 18) 18 mg
Signs of overdose may include the following:
- Gastrointestinal symptoms
- Dizziness
- Somnolence
- Tremor
- Abnormal behavior
- Hyperactivity
- Agitation
- Mild to moderate sympathetic nervous system activation (e.g., tachycardia, increased blood pressure, mydriasis, dry mouth)
- Pruritus
- Rash
- Seizures and QT prolongation
Seek medical help immediately.
Contraindications
People with the following medical conditions should not take Atomoxetine:
- Narrow-angle glaucoma
- Current or history of pheochromocytoma
- Severe heart disorder (e.g., severe hypertension, heart failure, arterial occlusive disease, angina, hemodynamically significant congenital heart disease, cardiomyopathies, MI, potentially fatal arrhythmias and channelopathies, known severe structural cardiac abnormalities, coronary artery disease)
- Severe cerebrovascular disorders (e.g., cerebral aneurysm, stroke)
Side Effects
Atomoxetine may have the following side effects:
- Suicide-related behavior (e.g., suicide attempts, suicidal ideation)
- Psychotic or manic symptoms (e.g., hallucination, delusional thinking, mania, agitation)
- Aggressive behavior
- Hostility or emotional lability
- Cardiovascular effects (e.g., increased blood pressure and heart rate, orthostatic hypotension)
- Altered cardiac conduction (e.g., QT interval prolongation)
- Seizures
- Urinary retention or hesitancy
- Priapism
- Rarely, anxiety and depression or depressed mood, tics, hepatic effects (e.g., elevated hepatic enzymes and bilirubin, jaundice, severe liver injury, hepatic failure), allergic reactions (e.g., anaphylactic reactions, angioneurotic edema, rash, urticaria).

Warnings
Do not use Atomoxetine in people with the following conditions:
- Narrow-angle glaucoma (increased pressure in the eyes)
- With or a history of pheochromocytoma (rare tumor of the adrenal gland causing high blood pressure)
- Severe heart problems, e.g., heart attack, heart failure, irregular or abnormal heartbeat, chest pain, severe high blood pressure, and narrowing of the heart vessels of the heart
- Blood vessel problems in the brain, e.g., stroke, aneurysm (weakness and bulging of the blood vessel wall in mind)

- History of seizures
- Urinary retention
- Bladder outlet obstruction
- Hepatic impairment
- Children
- Pregnancy and lactation
- CYP2D6 ultrarapid, standard, intermediate, and poor metabolizers
- Avoid alcohol
Storage Conditions
- Store at 25°C.
- Store in a cool, dry place away from the reach of children.
