How To Take
This medication may be taken with or without food.
Take this medication with a full glass (8 ounces) of water.
Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Do not take in larger or smaller amounts or for longer than recommended. Follow the directions on your prescription label.
Dosage of Telmisartan + HCTZ (Telmaheal 40 H) 40/ 12.5 mg
Per 40/12.5 mg tab Telmisartan 40 mg, hydrochlorothiazide 12.5 mg. Per 80/12.5 mg tab Telmisartan 80 mg, hydrochlorothiazide 12.5 mg. Per 80/25 mg tab Telmisartan 80 mg, hydrochlorothiazide 25 mg.
Adult: 1 tab once daily. Mild to moderate hepatic impairment: Should not exceed 40/12.5 mg once daily.
Missed Dose
If you miss a dose, skip the missed dose and return to your usual dosing schedule. If you often forget to take your medicine, let your doctor and pharmacist know.
Do not double a dose under any circumstances.
Overdose of Telmisartan + HCTZ (Telmaheal 40 H) 40/ 12.5 mg
If you think you have used Telmisartan + hydrochlorothiazide more than the usual dose, please seek medical help immediately.
Contraindications
People with the following medical conditions should not take Telmisartan + hydrochlorothiazide:
- Hypersensitivity
- Cholestasis
- Biliary obstructive disorders
- Severe hepatic & renal impairment (CrCl <30 mL/min).
- Refractory hypokalemia, hypercalcemia.
- Concomitant use with aliskiren in patients with diabetes or renal impairment (GFR <60 mL/min/1.73 m2).
- Pregnancy (2nd & 3rd trimesters)
- Lactation

Telmisartan + hydrochlorothiazide may have the following side effects:
- Eye pain
- Vision problems
- Feeling light-headed
- Fainting
- Swelling
- Rapid weight gain
- Fast or pounding heartbeats
- Urinating less than usual, or not at all
- Jaundice
- Dry mouth
- Increased thirst
- Drowsiness
- Restless feeling
- Confusion
- Increased urination
- Fast heart rate
- Seizure (convulsions).
Less serious side effects may include:
- Stomach pain
- Diarrhea
- Back pain
- Headache
- Tired feeling
- Dizziness
- Skin rash
- Stuffy nose
- Sore throat
- Dry cough
Warnings
Inform your doctor and pharmacist if you are taking or using any of these medicines:
- Other blood pressure medications
- Digoxin
- Warfarin
- Steroids
- Lithium
- Cholestyramine
- Colestipol
- Insulin or diabetes medications you take by mouth;
- Barbiturate
- Diuretics
- Aspirin or other NSAIDs
- Muscle relaxants
- Narcotic medication
