How To Take
This medicine should be taken with food. Take just before meals.
Dosage
Adult: Diabetes mellitus: 200-300 mcg three times a day.
Missed Dose
If you miss a dose, skip the missed dose and return to your usual dosing schedule. If you often forget to take your medicine, let your doctor and pharmacist know.
Do not double a dose under any circumstances.
Overdose
If you think you may have used Voglibose more than the usual dose, please immediately seek medical help.
Contraindications
People with the following medical conditions should not take Voglibose:
- Inflammatory bowel disease
- Gastrointestinal obstruction or patients predisposed to it
- Conditions that may deteriorate as a result of increased gas formation, e.g., hernia; severe ketosis; diabetic coma or pre-coma; severe infection; hypersensitivity; pregnancy; lactation.
- Not to be used as monotherapy in insulin dependent diabetes mellitus

Potentially Fatal:
- Hepatotoxicity
Warnings
May enhance the effects of other antidiabetics, including insulin.

How Does It Work?
Voligbose selectively inhibits alpha-glucosidase in the enteric canal, thereby delaying the digestion and absorption of carbohydrate, suppressing a sharp increase in postprandial plasma glucose.

Take special precautions if you have the following conditions:
- History of laparotomy or ileus
- Roemheld’s syndrome
- Stenosis
- Severe hepatic or renal impairment.
- Child less than 18 years
- Elderly
- Monitor liver function tests
- Treat hypoglycemic episodes with glucose (not with sucrose)
Storage Conditions
- Store below 30°C.
- Store in a cool, dry place away from the reach of children.
- Do not use voglibose that is expired or out of date.
