Oseltamivir (Oseltaflu 75) 75 mg capsule is an antiviral neuraminidase inhibitor used to treat and prevent influenza, also known as flu, an infection caused by a virus. It may also be used to avoid becoming infected with the flu virus after being potentially exposed to it.

How To Take
This medicine may be taken with or without food. Try to make it at the same time each day.
If you are taking the capsule, swallow it whole with water. Do not chew or crush the capsule. If you have difficulty swallowing, a capsule may be opened and mixed with sweetened food products such as chocolate syrup, sweetened condensed milk, apple sauce, or yogurt. A liquid suspension can also be made from the capsules if needed.
Oseltamivir must be used regularly for it to be effective. Continue taking this medicine even when you feel better. Do not stop using it unless instructed by the doctor. It is essential to complete the entire course of medication.
Take Oseltamivir precisely as directed by your doctor or according to the instructions on the label. Do not take more or less than instructed by your doctor.
Dosage of Oseltamivir (Oseltaflu 75) 75 mg
Adult: Influenza A and B: 75 mg twice a day for five days. Initiate within two days of onset of symptoms.
Prophylaxis of influenza A and B: 75 mg once daily for at least ten days. Initiate within two days of exposure.
For community outbreak: May continue dosing for up to 6 weeks.
Missed Dose
If you miss a dose, skip the missed dose and return to your usual dosing schedule. If you often forget to take your medicine, let your doctor and pharmacist know.
Do not double a dose under any circumstances.
Overdose of Oseltamivir (Oseltaflu 75) 75 mg
If you think you may have used Oseltamivir more than the usual dose, please seek medical help immediately.
Contraindications
People with the following medical conditions should not take Oseltamivir:

- In children:
- Vomiting and other gastrointestinal disturbances
- Bronchitis
- Asthma
- Conjunctivitis
- Dermatitis
- Ear disorders
- Otitis media
- Epistaxis
- Lymphadenopathy
- Sinusitis
- Pneumonia
Potentially Fatal:
- Anaphylaxis and skin rashes (e.g. Stevens-Johnson syndrome, erythema multiforme, epidermal necrolysis; neuropsychiatric events (e.g. delirium, hallucinations, abnormal behaviour)
- Rarely, fulminant hepatitis or hepatic failure
Warnings
Inform your doctor and pharmacist if you are taking any of these medicines:
- Chlorpropamide
- Methotrexate
- Probenecid
- Phenylbutazone
Inform your doctor and pharmacist if you are taking any other medicines, including herbal tonics such as traditional Chinese medicines, supplements and non-prescription medicines.

How Does Oseltamivir (Oseltaflu 75) 75 mg Work?
Oseltamivir is a prodrug of oseltamivir carboxylate which inhibits the neuraminidase (sialidase). This viral surface enzyme is responsible for the replication and infectivity of influenza virus A and B, thereby preventing the release of viruses from infected cells.

Take special precautions if you have the following conditions:
- Patient w/ resp disease
- Chronic cardiac disease
- Renal and severe hepatic impairment
- Immunocompromised patient
- Children
- Pregnancy and lactation
- Avoid alcohol
Storage Conditions
- Store at 25°C.
- Store capsules in a cool, dry place away from the reach of children.
- Do not use Oseltamivir that is expired or out of date.
