Omeprazole (Omeeforce 20) 20 mg capsule is a proton-pump inhibitor used to treat gastric acid-related disorders. It can also be used to relieve stomach irritation and ulceration caused by certain painkillers such as non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). It may also be used together with other medicines to treat a specific type of stomach problems caused by Helicobacter pylori bacteria.

How To Take
Ask your doctor or pharmacist about whether you should take Omeprazole with or without food. Different brands of Omeprazole may be made differently. Try to take it at the same time each day.
Swallow the capsule or tablet whole; do not chew or crush the capsule or tablet. If you have trouble swallowing, check with your doctor or pharmacist on how you should take this medicine.
You may need to take Omeprazole for some time before the full benefits can be felt. Continue taking this medicine even when you feel better. Do not stop taking it unless instructed by the doctor.
Take Omeprazole precisely as directed by your doctor or according to the instructions on the label. Do not take more or less than instructed by your doctor.
Dosage of Omeprazole (Omeeforce 20) 20 mg
Adult: Peptic ulcer: 20 mg or 40 mg once daily. Treatment duration: 4 weeks (duodenal ulcer); 8 weeks (gastric ulcer). Maintenance: 10-20 mg once daily, may increase up to 40 mg according to the response.
Eradication of H. pylori-associated with peptic ulcer disease: 20 mg twice a day for one week in combination with clarithromycin and with either amoxicillin or metronidazole. Alternatively, 40 mg once daily for one week in combination with amoxicillin and metronidazole.
NSAID-associated ulceration: 20 mg once daily for up to 8 weeks. Maintenance: 20 mg once daily.
Gastro-oesophageal reflux disease: 20 mg once daily for 4-8 weeks. For severe cases: 40 mg once daily for eight weeks. Maintenance: 10 mg once daily, may increase to 20-40 mg once daily if necessary.
Zollinger-Ellison syndrome: Initial: 60 mg/day, adjust as required. Usual dose: 20-120 mg/day. Dose >80 mg should be given in 2 divided doses.
Missed Dose
If you miss a dose, skip the missed dose and return to your usual dosing schedule. If you often forget to take your medicine, let your doctor and pharmacist know.
Do not double a dose under any circumstances.
Overdose of Omeprazole (Omeeforce 20) 20 mg
Signs of overdose may include the following:
- Nausea
- Vomiting
- Dizziness
- Abdominal pain
- Diarrhoea
- Headache apathy
- Depression and confusion
Seek medical help immediately.
Contraindications
People with the following medical conditions should not take Omeprazole:
- Concomitant use with nelfinavir

How Does Omeprazole (Omeeforce 20) 20 mg Work?
Omeprazole is a benzimidazole gastric antisecretory agent, also known as proton pump inhibitor (PPI) acts by blocking the final step in secretion of gastric acid by specifically inhibits adenosine triphosphatase (ATPase) enzyme which is present on the secretory surface of the gastric parietal cell. Both basal and stimulated acid are inhibited.
Uses
Omeprazole is used to treat the following conditions:
- Peptic ulcer
- Eradication of H. pylori-associated with peptic ulcer disease
- NSAID-associated ulceration
- Gastro-oesophageal reflux disease
- Zollinger-Ellison syndrome
Special Precautions and Connected Warnings
Take special precautions if you have the following conditions:
- Patient with reduced body store or risk factors for reduced vitamin B12 absorption
- Risk of osteoporosis
- Hepatic impairment
- Children
- Elderly
- Pregnancy and lactation
- CYP2C19 ultrarapid metabolisers
- You should also try to avoid lying down soon after eating as this will worsen the reflux symptoms.
- Avoid alcohol.
Storage Conditions
- Store below 25°C. Protect from light and moisture.
- Store in a cool, dry place away from the reach of children.
- Do not use Omeprazole that is expired or out of date.
